Use Honeycomb Maps for Free

Free interactive map software for individuals, students, researchers, and non-profits

Honeycomb Maps is primarily designed for enterprises. However, we are happy to host an instance of our application for non-commercial users. All map visualization features are available in this version.

What you can do

  • Create animated time-series maps, heatmaps, bubble maps, and chloropleth maps
  • Build complex maps with multiple layers, including points, lines, and polygons
  • Add tooltips, charts, and metrics to your maps
  • Add real-time interactivity with sliders and filters
  • Show paths and trajectories
  • Share maps with public or password-protected links

How it works

  1. Go to app.honeycombmaps.com and create an account
  2. Upload files with location data from your computer (max 100MB), or connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box
  3. Create interactive maps from the data you upload, including tooltips, interactive charts, and customizable basemaps
  4. Create a share link to easily share the map with others, including an optional password

Limitations

How-to guides

Our documentation site contains detailed instructions for adding data sources, creating map layers, building components, and sharing maps.

For companies

The free version of Honeycomb Maps is only for individual, student, researcher, and non-profit use.

The version is a single instance of our Honeycomb Maps product, which we host ourselves on AWS.

You can easily run this application on your own cloud infrastructure or on-prem with our self-hosted offering.

Enterprise deployments include Single-Sign-On, direct connection to your data warehouse, and hands-on deployment and maintenance support.

In addition, if you use Snowflake as a data warehouse we distribute Honeycomb Maps as a Snowflake Native App.

If you are a company interested in using Honeycomb Maps, please reach out to carston@honeycombmaps.com to discuss deployment and licensing options.
