Fiber Network Build-out

This map shows a high-level design (HLD) for a fiber network in Falmouth, MA. The build sequence is simulated by traversing the graph. Segments are divided into 3 categories: Feeder, Distribution, and Drops (directly to homes).

This map was created in Honeycomb Maps, using data from FalmouthNet. First, segment data was imported from a CSV file, then a line layer was created colored by type, and finally a time series slider with the ‘cumulative’ animation style was used to show the growth of the network over time.

Animated maps like these are an excellent way to engage stakeholders throughout the process of planning and building fiber networks.
