California Walkability Overview

The map provides insights into walkability at an extremely granular level, characterizing the relative walkability for every Census 2019 block group. As you can see, areas with higher walkability are colored blue on the map.

To make this map, we used Honeycomb’s Polygon Layer to show census block groups (with tooltips) and a radio filter on walkability category. Data is from the US EPA and was converted from .gdb to .parquet using DuckDB for visualization.
